I think it's something like humidity. It's not too difficult to insulate the outside against mana, but adding a mana dehumidifier inside would reduce a ton of efficiency and add a weakpoint. If they had a sufficiently advanced control system you could regulate the fuel injection in realtime, but that's very dangerous and high precision technology.

Carla's sister Harla, the acting demon lord? It's possible, but I have another theory.

The cover page shows all the sisters that appear in this chapter, old and new, plus one more girl cowering behind Carla. She doesn't look anything like Harla did in 19.9 (though maybe she's a shapeshifter, who knows), but I choose to assume she's the fourth sister who doesn't appear in the chapter. That, or she could instead be a humanoid form of Garuda.

I honestly doubt that the arm is part of her standard equipment. It seems more of a way to take Tugernanner on a covert operation than something she's used to. Like, she's catching the baby and then she looks over and sees that Nana mangled the guy behind her. She looks genuinely surprised. Eh, not that last bit so much.

Since the arm is an extension of Trugernanner, you can look at it as a symbol of how her little sisters have given back to her the power that she lacks on her own.

And speaking of Trugernanner (named after a real person, who was mythologized as the last "full-blooded" Tasmanian aboriginal), the monsters are all named after real-world mythological creatures.

Mothman is a famous cryptid from the United States, specifically Point Pleasant, West Virginia.

Hafgufa is a giant sea creature from the Norse Eddas, said to have lived in the waters around Iceland.

Ishbi-benob is an extremely minor Bible character, a Philistine giant who attempted to kill David at war during his reign as King of Israel. Not to be confused with Goliath, the Philistine giant who David slew in a duel at war much earlier in life. Israelites and Philistines went to war a LOT in this part of the Bible.

I just binged this manga. This manga is neat. I feel like it's on a pendulum swinging from ridiculous garbage to peak and it's swinging really fast. I felt the same way about Snowpeircer, so I was very shocked when this chapter basically has Snowpeircer, but- for me- it fits the vibe.

I'm not too sure what this manga is trying to say about revenge or sisterhood or being a hero, but it's fun to see its chaos, I think?

If I had to compare it to something, it would be like «Isekai Kuimetsu no Same» except it's also sometimes «Watashi no Yuri wa Oshigoto desu!»

Hinako's robot arm is beautiful! Especially since it highlights how her cape still looks like it gives her the flowing sleeves that defines her silhouette until now. God this chapter was just a great reminder of why this manga has the best character designs, can't wait to see Alice fuck shit up!
