Ujie is such a perfect expression of a certain kind of problematic teenage boy.

Shima is just one of those overthinking introspectors. Ruminating on your own flaws, replaying things in your mind and then projecting it all onto other people. Its never healthy and he can't "catch up" doing that. But it'll be fun to watch him grow past it.

Wish heā€™d just talk with Mitsumi more. Even the most emotionally stunted people would have a couple of people theyā€™d bare their soul to. I know he has the actor childhood friend, Chris, for that but he he should make Mitsumi his person.

If heā€™s hoping to be liked for his genuine self (which he already is) then he must first show her the true him.

Isnā€™t courtship and dating simply talking a shitton to this one person over others? He has to become comfortable with that eventually.

ohhhhhhhhhhhhh this was so sweeeeeeeeeeeeet. It's sad that he views his kindness as an act, but I get it. He really is a good person, but he's so filled with his own guilt and self deprecation that he sees it as some sort of lie. And the proof is simple: bad people don't feel guilty about being bad people.

Shima doesn't have the courage to show his flaws to her, he just wants to show his good side and be a better person, but then he gets disappointed when she praises it on him? It doesn't make sense. You need to be honest and show yourself completely to the person you like so that they can love you completely too. And a little self-love is missing. For him, his kindness is something bad, so he can't receive her love about something he hates.

This is the first time I've been enjoying a drama like this, that's why I'm not even anxious to be resolved lol. I love this manga.
Thanks for the translation!

I was holding my breath when he was disappointed at her explanation, but let out a sigh of relief near the end.

I think I relate to Shima a lotā€¦ When kindness is something you consciously ā€œdoā€ as an act all the time itā€™s easy to forget that youā€™re still being kind, if that makes sense? Thereā€™s some saying that being kind doesnā€™t take any extra effort, but I think thatā€™s a little untrueā€¦.

Anyway, just wow!! I think this is probably my favorite romance manga Iā€™ve ever read. Itā€™s really just such a good coming-of-age story šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜ SHIMAA BE KINDER TO URSELF.

He thinks she only sees perfection in him but he also looks at her and only sees someone perfect
Yes! It's also funny, Mitsumi's childhood friend pointed that out too in the previous chapters. Shima just believed she was this girl that had it all figured out, so everything she says must be right. Meanwhille, Mitsumi's friend was like, nah she is smart when it comes to school, and useless when it comes to everything else. I just checked, that was chapter 52 towards the end.
