In addition to having the body reinforcement from having her slime inside it, I have to imagine that OG!Jelly probably has strengthening/reinforcement magic she can use that Slime!Jelly is subconsciously tapping into.

I wish Jelly would use her actual slime morphing properties more, but I guess she wants to hide her nature so it makes sense.
In this universe, slimes are weak monsters and can't do the mimicry-style transformation; although they can change the shape of their body (similar to a Dragon Quest slime). The best you get is those five tiny splits. I've thought for a while that they might eventually be human-transforming splits, but it's not a power she originally had as a slime.

Sure, but i would hope the average squirrel in this world unless they're considered monsters an adventurer would strike down alongside slimes wouldn't be capable of just killing an adult human by themselves XD; but y'never know maybe all the birds surrounding Jelly are also spies or so as well considering that hooded guy "revived a dead dove" at one point in front of will
Ah right, the original point you were making was squirrels aren't that dangerous, wasn't it.

As a matter of fact they do...they can be pretty vicious when claiming territory from other squirrels.

But....to your point, they're certainly 'harmless'.

Indeed We see them as "harmless" because we out weigh them a minimum 50:1. We are up to 10 times their size. They see us as dangers to avoid.

Granny school of fighting.

Failing crops is one major reason for people turning bandits.

A bag of apples isn't that much.

She also plans to actually follow up on the crops, like a proper ruler.

Yeah they definitely do. They're basically rats with bushy tails. They eat just about anything, including carcasses of larger animals. Even...well...humans.
Most animals will eat meat if the opportunity presents itself. There are obligate carnivores (like cats), but not obligate herbivores.

The communist in me: First send those you dislike to gulag, now have bigger slices of pie for friends and allies.
That sounds like more like the fascist in you...

No they don't. Herbivorous animals usually only eat meat when their normal food supply is scarce or due to deviant behavior. They will not opportunistically eat meat otherwise. And strictly obligate herbivores also exist, like Koalas.

But that's beside the point. If we're talking about squirrels, they are true omnivores, and will forage or hunt as appropriate. Herbivores do not have hunting behavior, and squirrels hunt prey, not just eat carrion.

Deer will on occasion eat birds. Put some meat in front of a cow and they're likely to eat it if they're hungry. "They don't" is an absolute statement that is patently false.

And strictly obligate herbivores also exist, like Koalas.
They're capable of digesting meat, but they don't like eating anything other than their preferred diet.

This story is ridiculously simple-mindedly sweet, and that is why I love it! A slime saint named Jelly. So relaxing...

I feel like we're quibbling over semantics when this is about factual animal behavior.

If animals are hungry and there is no other food readily available, they will eat meat. However, a cow is not going to look for meat unless it has no choice, neither is it going to hunt other animals for meat even if that was the case.

Nothing I said disputes the above. "They don't" refers to you saying "opportunistic" eating. This is, to me, distinguished from necessary eating. A cow will not eat meat if you have plant matter right next to it and they are aware of said plant matter. They also do digest this poorly, they do so out of desperation or abnormal behavior and they cannot survive on it. It varies between animals as well. Deer can digest meat better than cows.

However, this should be also further distinguished from squirrels. Those have hunting behavior, and meat is a normal part of their diet. They will actively look for sources of meat, and kill other animals to get it.

And regarding Koalas, they are actual obligate herbivores, one of the only 'true' few. They are unlike almost every other kind of herbivore in that they are completely unable to digest meat. It is in fact dangerous for them. They don't produce protein enzymes at all like pepsin, and their gut bacteria cannot process meat either. The resulting undigested meat will likely kill them by obstructing their gut or by poisonous decay byproducts because it will also spend a long time in their gut. They literally do not digest even the insects they may accidentally eat along with eucalyptus leaves.

I get what you are saying. The idea that generally, 'herbivores' only eat plants is a myth. That doesn't mean it doesn't come with a lot of caveats, that there aren't any herbivores that really can only eat meat, or that it is in any way relevant to Squirrels, who are called omnivores for a reason, and hunt other animals like carnivores do.

That's not what I said. And I trust more sources than I trust you, in particular since you've already shown to not be trustworthy.

I don't even know what we're arguing about. You misquote me, then claim I'm misquoting you? And all this has nothing to do with the original point or topic. What's your problem?

Fine if u want to label me as untrustworthy because I disagree with you, your "sources" and your twisted logic. I'm tired of seeing you around too, talking about things out of your depth.

Since she can actually use the saint's power, she'll probably manage to do the barrier work on her own. I guess she won't need Ange's help then to do the quest she was summoned to do.

Yep, Ange totally set this up. Her silhouette is right there on page 17 advising these desperate dudes to find a new career path in kidnapping hapless nobles for ransom...

The ruler of the village being a "she" didn't clue me in to the reveal that it was Jelly herself who is lording over these villagers. Threw me for a loop there.
