The Problem is that Jelly isn't specifically the Main Target. The Chosen of the Goddess is. And the Saints in general.
Their reason for going after her isn't any of the valid reasons. It's clearly nefarious. Even if they learned the original Jelly is dead and the Jelly currently is actually a slime their reason for going after her wouldn't change.

Though it seems our assassin is at least being threatened to do it.

I mean it is funny/ironic in a way, if it's not an intentional slight against all the 'generic dime a dozen isekai creators' but i'd expect there to be a separate fantasy story (although while I am having fun with this story in a direct "fantasy" polling i feel like something like Frieren would get more votes) [if it's not an actual spoiler that there are isekai elements], but even the 'reincarnation' thing is kinda not exact on what happened but imagine being so good at a manga that you win an award for something that's not even in the category

I think it's more likely that enough time had passed that their informants had seen her and got word back before he returned.
