Na, I think its a perfectly valid excuse. Slimes are low level and weak, it's not that they weren't doing evil things, its that the evil things they were doing had no effect. Though, apparently, after a 300 year massacre, they did manage to manifest themselves in a more powerful, but week willed form. Though its hard to believe that these 2 angels ever harbored malice.
I do believe they properly depicted the first slim she encountered attacking her. Though, since then, she has just been snapping her fingers and watching the masses die.
