Yeah, that was kinda her fault. While it was trashy for the ex to cancel so late, I can also understand his frustration as the MC did in fact make all these decisions without consulting him

Why didn't the boyfriend say anything sooner? It's kind of shitty to just suddenly say "I can't marry you" without even telling her "Hey don't I get any say here?" even once.

I know that manga editors are always saying you need to hook the readers quickly, but this can be fixed in just one sentence. You don't need 5 more pages of setup. Just have one extra bubble of the boyfriend saying "I have tried to tell you to listen to me, but you always prefer to listen to other people's opinions. I can't spend my life with someone like this".

Yes, those are serious gripes, more than enough to question the relationship itself. Why agree to marry her then? When that happens, it's only natural one begins making long-term, costly and difficult to reverse plans. It's beyond trashy. It's the kind of thing one should be required to disclose about themselves on the first date. "I hate not being included in decisions but go along with it quietly anyway and then bail at the last second" :pacman: .

It’s possible he never realised the extent to how much she did things on her own whim until after he proposed. Or maybe it didn’t get that bad until he proposed.

Having said that, they were dating for 8 years. You think there would’ve been signs before that.

If she only got like this after the proposal, one would think he wouldn't be so eager to break it off like this. Not before at least trying to stop her in her tracks. He did say he "wanted to be with someone that loves him", but what about him? Did he not love her enough to try to fix a sudden change in their relationship, rather than drop it like a casual date that turned sour?

I thought so too. Like they've been dating for 8 years and it's probably been a few weeks or months since the proposal. Why didn't this guy ever say anything to her even once?

Like, so many manga have opening chapters that sounds so irrational, and it's especially bad when it's slice of life modern day like this where you somewhat expect things to follow real life common sense. I know authors want to make everything seem dramatic so that the reader keeps reading, but man.
