It's pretty silly, yeah. She's literally just "childhood friend, but better". Also, why is it always a beast girl? Like, in almost every single betrayal manga, the childhood friend who leaves is a blond beauty and the replacement heroine a beast girl. It's not bad or anything, but jesus christ, try to come up with something different for once. That aside she's fine with me.

Long blond haired girls with blue eyes have been extremely popular since Saber from Fate, maybe even before. Everybody in japan has black hair, so a blond girl immediately stands out in the imagination of the japanese audience.

Why the hell do they do these Skill Appraisals in public? Why do they yell out the results for everyone to hear? (yeah I know, they were surprised' etc. point still stands). Seems kind of idiotic to me. I'd have thought they'd at least have a separate appraisal room or something.
