It's an old pro-wrestling trick. You use jobbers to put over undercard guys by letting the undercard guy squash them, then undercard guys to put over midcard guys by jobbing out to them. The midcard guys then put over upper card guys, and the upper card guys to put over a main eventers, and you do this by establishing just how dominant each level is over the previous one.

Thus, it was necessary to show power dominant the S-rankers were compared to the previous rank, to put over this new monster, who tore them apart like it was nothing; in turn, the monster will die to put over the MC, to put over just how powerful he's gotten.

It's wrestling booking 101.

Don't know whether our MC is going to save the day or not considering the foreshadowing (ha, get it?) of him acquiring a very convenient teleportation skill coupled with a very convenient incident where he got to "set up" that specific skill which is conveniently not detected at all by any of the S-ranked, which also indicates that his spell concealment has bypassed that of the S-ranked who are conveniently (or should it be inconveniently?) getting their asses handed to them by this guy/ant/beast/mutant/4th gen/ant queen's precious child/new mortal enemy of mankind/final boss of this arc that happens to be degraded to minion status the next conveniently.

Honestly not sure how I feel about this. If the mc beats that ant solo, all other characters basically become irrelevant. I'm fine with him being the strongest, but if he's like 100x stronger than the rest of them combined, the author doesn't even need to bother showing any of those Korean or Japanese guys again since all following threats will be even stronger and it's canon that their power level remains constant. And if the author uses that as a reason to cycle them out for new fodder, that's just bad writing. But we'll see how it goes.

Kind of shit that, as everyone said already, the power creep apparently made every other S rank hunter irrelevant so soon, as they can't get any stronger unless they reawaken.
