however, it could be a prophetic dream or a "what if". Like, if she failed to find the real killer, things would progress like that.

Precisely, she faked the slap but in the first place David is behind bars, so fake or not she shouldn’t be able to slap him.

Idk if the author didn’t think it through or if it’s part of the plot, like maybe Oliver is aware that she fake it but didn’t say anything.

No I know it was fake but it's just funny to think that anyone would've pieced together 'wait but he's in a cell how did you slap him through the bars'.

I guess the easy answer is saying she could have gone into the cell to talk to him and then slapped him that way.

That's a pretty nasty nightmare. Not only is she pleading for David's life, her own brother seems to have been killed the way she was. As if the assassin was taunting her.

If he's truly dead, then after her 10 days is up the kingdom is going to fall into a nasty succession crisis with the entirety of the royal family dead. And the enemy nation can use that chance to invade.
