I'm continue on daily basis to find the root cause of the decrease of performance and lag that occur for some people, myself included, i have in meantime 2 suggestions that can improve to reduce a bit this issue:
1) remove the random image widget if possible in the main page, is useless and it take eons to load the whole picture, it heavily decrease the loading of other thumbnails by a huge margin, better to replace it with something else.
2) remove the prefetching or the script that cause it, i noticed that even if i press ESC to stop loading a page or close a tab, it continue to load anyway in background all the images and so create a huge lag preventing me to do any other action until the load is complete, infact i'm forced to close and reopen the browser (and so eliminating all the scripts) to fix this issue.
Opening and closing the browser do the trick 90% of the times and a page that wont load the first time it load at maximim speed after a relaunch. So i think this is a javascript issue.
Thanks, hope it can help a bit to improve things and it can help admins too.
