we have the shadowy cabal revealed - the Proxies of Heaven who are manipulating mortals behind the scenes to ensure that mortals go extinct. somehow this is supposed to help cultivators survive? do they think mortals are the reason spiritual qi is disappearing from heaven and earth (aka the heavenly cataclysm)?

i wonder what A-Ting's master meant by qi disappearing from heaven. are cultivators getting weaker? i thought the only thing that was happening was fewer mortals were born with spiritual roots.
