• the mom is acting like a victim when she's the perpetrator
• the dad is a fucking doormat
• and their daughter is trying to solve their marital issues

No one is communicating. Marriage and relationships in general is about communication!! How do you get married and not communicate in this day and age?

Not so sure it's all that simple. I'd bet there was an event that hasn't even been mentioned yet that made this marriage devolve into this. I see guilt in the dad, perpetual anxiety in the mom. I know there was that point where the dad didn't want to continue the pregnancy because wife was at risk, and that makes us think that that's the key event, but again, I'd bet there's one more.
