Photos taking too much time is the most stupid excuse the author could come up with. Are we still living the era of wet plate photography, huh? What exactly prevented the audience from taking photos randomly with their smartphones? Marin's friends would have definitely taken photos and videos and then later sent them to her. Considering the kind of friends she keeps, they would have taken photos even if it was forbidden.

We live in a world where ambulance crews and firefighters are complaining people crowding around accident sites to take photos and record videos are making their work harder. Not to mention the morality of recording a video of an unknown accident victim is extremely dubious, but people gotta upload those videos to get views and likes, and gain publicity in general.

But maybe Japan is still different, despite their famous love of cameras.

That's what would happen in RL, 100%. Marin is loved by her friends and they are quite a rambunctious bunch. No way they wouldn't record her best moments. They were so enthusiastic about it all. Though even so, why wouldn't they mention it to Marin afterwards? She would want those photos, herself. She's a professional model (even if part-time), so getting photographed is natural for her. This was just an unfortunate plot device the author needed for whatever reason.
