@SoloSera Gojou and Photo-sis kind of have a similar calming atmosphere at times. Also, if you are going to do photography, why would you stick to just one lens? Macro photos are super cool! Then you have sports photography, landscapes, space photos, etc. God, I miss photo club and the smell of the dark room. If I think about it, it's been a whole decade since then, but I still remember that smell.

I'm afraid photography is different these days. In the old days you'd spend hours setting up a shot, since film costs money. Now you just take a few hundred, and pick out the one that's best. There's a lot you can do with the camera electronics that you used to have to do with lenses, lighting, filters, etc. If you are only taking one kind of shot, like mid-range fashion photos, you really only need one lens. Stand back, get a good field of focus, and just shoot all day.

Oh god, as someone who did a degree in "creative media" (read; photography, journalism, photo and video editing, media theory, scriptwriting, and audio, but specialising in filmmaking), them talking about location recces, switching camera lenses, using reflectors, and three point lighting is giving me flashbacks. All it's missing is them talking about blocking, white balancing, the rule of thirds and semiotics and it's like I never left. I'm looking forward to the chapter on editing so I can time warp again.

Also, if you can aford to rent a proper lighing rig and you've calibrated your camera properly, for the love of god do not rely on flash photography for lighting. It's fine if you want a specific look, but as general lighting I think it looks, quite frankly, fucking awful.

DSLR being expensive is no joke, and the lenses are even sold separately, adding salt to the poor student's flesh wounds.

Using Leica as an example for camera pricing is probably not the greatest idea lol. An M10 is priced nearly 100 times more than a entry level DSLR.
