Hes not even established to be inheriting the house, his right to command is questionable at best and add to that how he just cut down one of his own men.
They should be arresting him not following his orders to attempt to murder the eldest son of the noble house they serve, this is so absurd.

The dude is batshit crazy. Plus they don't know what Aki's situation is. Betraying Sir Coco Puffs could lead to dad killing them in retaliation.

As far as they know the eldest son was dead or at least presumed dead in the forest, seeing him alive makes him automatically the hair apparent (unless told otherwise, which they have not been).
So they are essentially being ordered by the second son to murder the eldest son... I'm sure you can see how this wouldn't work.

Yeah, but who set up that lie? Who is the power behind the prick? Who could they see easily killing them for supporting the exiled heir? The current lord.

They don't know it's a lie, all they know is that the information isn't correct.
Jumping from there to "his own father is trying to exile him from the family" is such a huge leap that I don't know why I need to explain this to you.

This isn't just some random kid. He's a noble, heir apparent and said to have died in an accident. And now he turns up alive and the new heir makes it clear he wants him dead. He thinks he can get away with it, which means either the lord is ignorant to this coup in his house, and as these are men serve the lord and know him, they could find that suspicious, or the lord is fine with this murder of his eldest by the second son. The second option is more likely, which means supporting the deposed first heir could be their deaths if they return to the lord.

he really should kill his evil brother that spent his life tormenting him and tried to murder him but i can predict with pretty much 100% accuracy that he won't.
