I guess they decided to alter the lore a bit by adding this light saintess. They're not stating, that if the light orb is stolen, then the demon king won't return. Which is contradictory to what has been said in the past. It's always been about the Light Orb. They do mention protecting royalty and nobles too. But Light Orb has been the focus of what they were protecting when it comes to the Demon King. Now it's suddenly secondary.
