yeah like everyone said...he should have used the potion before after he learns that kuro=so is out there. And i think it is logical why he can level up with the potion but not with his normal means. When he fight he gains no exp because all his enemy are too weak. Even if he do not need much exp with level 1, he gains no exp from fights. But why drag the fight longer, now that he has a higher stat. He could just use the forbidden magic he used against the small fry demon where the one with lower stat die.
