Japan has, last I checked, notoriously poor anti-trust legislation. Like, "makes the USA look like a control economy" levels of laissez-faire. I wouldn't hold my breath.
Literally Japan is regulated by the USA, so when they say nothing they just leave things be.

History of WWII

I guess USA made cartoons first then shipped it to Japan and anime came to life 10 years after WWII.

The Japanese models was only Mickey Mouse and Donald Tr... er Duck. So I guess the anime girls were all modeled after Mickey Mouse including the angular nose while all the anime men were modeled to Donald Tr... er Duck, all gyaruo ducks.

I've seen a handful of people trying to compare this to the Microsoft acquisition of Activision Blizzard and go on rants on how great this will be for Sony..... It might be good for Sony, but it's going to be bad for the consumer. It really does seem that a lot of people don't actually understand the scope of this kind of buyout.

On the gaming side of things, Sony's heavy handed approach to censorship/alterations has had some pretty negative effects on some companies and even lead to the end of Senran Kagura. This also makes me think that we will never get another series like Dangan Ronpa from Spike Chunsoft because the subject matter would be seen as too extreme.

With that kind of mentality, it's actually concerning that they could have the capacity to have artists and studios alter their work to suit their own standards and stifle their creative freedom.

Basically, I don't think the chest thumping Sony fanboys understand the real impact this could have across multiple media formats and are only thinking "We got all the Souls games now boys!!!!!".

On another note too. I saw someone from Sony saying that they don't have many game series that they fostered from the beginning......... fuck you guys, you had plenty, you just abandoned them when they didn't sell millions of copies or shut down any attempt to revive them.

Last time I saw an acquisition I got fired. Lesson learned.

Lesson - work for yourself.

Lesson 2 - MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS. After all your business will feed you.

another rumor: Kadokawa may have approached Sony themselves, to block a hostile takeover from Kakao...

so, Kadokawa is basically fucked up if that was the case. it's Joever...
and another potential buyer would be Tencent, that is also major shareholder
They made games for the old times, cannot keep up with the gacha games. RE Zero also was not enough profits.

The choice is to sell Kadokawa to a bigger company. In the end they got the money and the structure to keep up with the consumer/s. ( IRL: Sony just had too much money no matter what bad decisions they make they lose only workers not profit. )

As bad as things look with Kakao, Tencent would probably be one of, if not the worst companies to potentially take over Kadokawa, I'm sure I don't need to explain why.

Even the company I work for has more(any) investment in it from China than I'm comfortable with. I know for a fact that if a credible opportunity presents itself, it's going to turn into a full on takeover and my job is toast.
