I absolutely love how mad some people are getting over this. I love this manga but it really is stale on content at this point. We're lucky if we see a millimeter of progress every dozen chapters. Something had to happen if they're not ready to end it.

Takagi-san suffers from the same problem to the point the author actually had to make a whole new manga series showcasing the two as a married couple so we could see those interactions without sacrificing their ability to keep the status quo on the flagship Takagi-san.

Moto Takagi-san was not done by Yamamoto-sensei. It was done by Mifumi Inaba.
Yamamoto-sensei work on three manga currently, and it's Takagi-san, Kunoichi Tsubaki and this manga. It's a misconception that Yamamoto-sensei doing the Moto Takagi-san.

@sirflimflam and writing like this is why I legitimately despise manga. The Japanese do not have a word for "pacing," apparently, given how nothing happens in almost any of their stories.

If they don't have any ideas left, end the series and move on to the next one. Of course, publishers will never allow that, because Japanese otaku are such consoomers that they will keep buying the same repetitive trash they've already read a thousand times over and over and over again, so those artists and authors better keep the story going at all costs, or else they won't milk as much money as possible out of those children.

@CKT0304 Sure, color me unaware. The artist does a fantastic job capturing the essence and art style of Yamamoto's work if they're able to confuse me to that extent. The essence of what I was saying remains more or less in tact though. It's really the only way we're going to see them them even remotely openly in love with each other for many years to come at this point. The sad thing is even if Takagi got together with Nishikata, it wouldn't even need to end since the format doesn't really rely on their ambiguous relationship.

I fear the same for this series. It's cute watching them fidget at each other every chapter, but it's always the same punch line. I'm hoping this girl can stir some change in the format. I'm really, really hoping.

@lolipedofin because introducing a love rival in a manga where the main couple is obvious 72 FUCKING CHAPTERS IN is the most stupid way of saying "i didn't know how to move the plot, here, have this shoehorned character whose only purpose is to advance the story and create unnecessary drama"

@Spoopa She's not really a love rival in the first place. Nothing about how she has acted so far indicated to me she's infatuated with Ayumu or even her other senpai for that matter. She respects their abilities and considers them her rival. Urushi is an obstacle for totally different reasons.

@sirflimflam oh come on, it's so obvious, how long until flashback showing her falling in love after seeing him in a kendo duel, or where he helps her with something important to her at one point, or just naturally falling in love as she payed attention to him while time passed

@Spoopa I mean you're free to speculate and assume the worst but actually ragging on the series for being lazy about plot devices based purely on your own conjecture is a bit silly.

I don't disagree that it's possible, but I'm not going to condemn them for it until it actually happens. I've seen my fair share of characters like her that don't go the romance route and are more like bros.
