@caseo78 You can find the rest of it on the author's Pixiv. Actually all chapters on the Pixiv are fairly longer(between 14 and 22 pages), as this Ch.11 is actually only the first half of Ch.3 of the Pixiv series. As for know, the series on the Pixiv count 17 chapters so yeah, we are REALLY behind. If we go by 4 pages each time then we will hav, oof,at least more than 70 chapters.

@Lilliwyt Watch the spoilers. Chapters are going by Twitter/Nico, where Suzumi-sensei posts weekly. They only compile to Pixiv when there's enough to compile.

I have no doubt the mother is horrid--just that one glance at Kaede's expression on being confronted with her tells me that.
Also . . . even if she'd been on the level, this reminds me of the movie "Natural Born Killers". At the beginning, the two leads kill the girl's parents--first the father, who abused her, then the mother. And her mother said something like "Wait, why me? I can understand why you're killing him, but I never did anything!"
And the girl says "That's right. You. Never. Did. Anything."

What gave it away? Her near dead emotions with a fake smile which looks practiced? Or the fact that she just left with only 1 half-assed attempt at a verbal counter to get her "daughter" back?

I bet she is either the actual abuser, maybe worse than or even encouraged the father, or just a random person claiming to be her "mother" (maybe involved with the slave trade or something).

List of suspicious oddities:
1) No mother who spent "8 years" searching for her "daughter" would just give up like that.
2) While it may just not have been shown, we never see evidence of this near decade long search. No pictures, no missing posters, nothing. Assuming Kaede is at most 20, that is 12 years of growth and physical development which went unchecked. Sure the wounds may help identify, but not that easy. She almost definitely has been stalking them for a time in order to make a good cover story.
3) Her reaction to learning her "daughter" was bought as property (a slave) is something only those who are familiar with the continued existance of the slave trade would have.
4) Kaede's scared reaction to her story.
5) Kaede never speaks. So there is obviously an issue.
6) Kaede cant read or write at her current age. Any "parent" would already be a major concern reguardless of what circumstances they "appeared" with. Not teaching your kid how to read and write is practically abuse itself in this day and age, unless under severe circumstances, which she obviously appears to not be or ever have been in since her husband did for a time have a job and all.
7) She flat out admits to being knowledgeable that her "daughter" was abused on multiple occasions, and what is worse, it sounded more like she was trying to give excuses for it and for her husband's behavior and why you should sympathize with him having a hard time with work more than the "daughter" who was abused as a result. It seemed that she was not honestly apologising for it. More like she was saying, "sure it happened here and there, but its in the past now, and there were legitimate reasons for it, so lets just forget about it and move on".
8) The meeting they held felt more like 2 business groups trying to negotiate a contract, rather than a reunion of a mother/daughter who have been violently separated for 8+ years.
9) She said her husband just "threw out" her "daughter". Wtf was she doing at that time? Grabbing Kaede's ankles to give the toss more force and distance I bet.

If I had to think of a potential excuse for this "mother", it would be that she has been through her fair share of shit too. And the mental trauma stunted her mental and emotional growth. So much so, that she developed a type of stockholm syndrome-esque relationship with her husband, and became very submissive as a result. Then something happened to her husband which allowed her to "snap out of it" enough to try and find her daughter. Then I could at least see a bit of meaning in her actions and behavior, but I doubt this is the case.

@Kaldrak "why doesn't the rich disabled girl have bodyguards?" The more important question is, why does it look like she is living in a flat rather than a mansion. And why no maids. Well but that is something better not to be asked. I guess. Or it will destroy the flow.
