Yes, excellent. Instead of teaching them the reality of your world, teach them to be shounen heroes and heroines, so they can spare scumbags and get stabbed in the back by them.

I'm not saying they need to be ruthless murderers all day every day, but being able to kill when necessary and distinguish necessity from personal desire seems kind of important for people who will likely be fighting super powered people that tend to hold grudges and are willing to do worse than just kill you nice and quick.

I feel like the lesson wasn't, "don't kill no matter what happens to you in the future" but instead it was a lesson that even though they have the potential to kill they shouldn't just be that cruel without giving it a second thought. Clearly think about the situation and decide what to do on your own, and if the result ends up with the opponents death you must be able to accept that result and carry it with you in the future

So I started reading the light novel and it makes this manga look a lot more kid friendly.
Some changes
1. oscars spirit is a sausage and he says things like "your uncle has a big sausage" which is why they refused to eat it at first (i personally thought it was weird that everyone has a distinct spirit but in the manga wtf is oscars spirit? cause he has tofu, garlic, ect.)
2. Ma Hongjun doesn't need to eat food to satisfy his evil fire spirit... he needs to have sex in the light novel
3. those guys die
There's more but these are some of the changes that I noticed (I'm currently on chapter 58 of the light novel which is the chapter after they kill these guys)
Anyway just wanted to post this so some people know that the light novel is mostly similar but has some very clear differences

@cadgweep Yeah, when I got a bit further into this I started comparing events with stuff from the wiki where some of the differences were written for various things. The differences tend to be fairly small, but there's so many of them over the course of the entire series that it starts to feel a tiny bit more like a "based loosely on" sort of deal, like the iZombie TV series vs its comic book counterpart.

FUCK THAT, those motherfuckers were going to kill them! and they killed dozens and dozens of other people and possibly disabled nearly 100 others possibly for life!. if someones going to fucking kill you, then they should be able to pull the fucking trigger and kill them back!
