It's refreshing when modern people from a peaceful country realize that for a man on the ground, war is just about protecting your home and kin. Pop culture is dominated with naive hippie sentiment. Even if you acknowledge that the person your fighting it just like you, it doesn't change the fact that there are only so many resources to go around. There's no way to force someone to acknowledge your rights aside from bonking them on the head.

Would say yes and no. True there is only so much to go around but the only reason why this story is so Black and white is that the other side is ruled by the nazis. In the end, a migration like this would take time a long ass time. It would start by skirmishing and then expand into full-out war. Like in our world expansion would happen and people would be incorporated with the culture that is taking over the place. Like the king of Europe in this story would be hard to really get any info from the front. It would take months to even know and then we are not talking about people that would for example not like to kill the people there but make them slaves or anything else.

Also, don't forget you have soft power. For example Venice in our world. There are LOTS of ways to get your rights or what you want without even one fight. Blackmail, threats, killing a couple of people and putting other people in place, and go on. Sure it is not as simple as just bonking them on the head but from just a number games the humans would be fucked. Just need to get enough guys and you will lose even with the tech they have. Sure they can fight for a while but good luck if you have 30k people against 1000.
