If the Empire is this strong with so assassin-mages running around, then why didn't they kill the demon lord on their own instead of relying on Himmel and his party? As noted in the previous arc, they already had expert killer mages running around for decades, which you wouldn't be able to gather/train in just one generation.
Well if i were to take an example in our world, just see the empire like United states. Both have secret popo organization, technologically more advanced than other countries, (probably) hate peace, peak military might. I mean they had all those things, let keep things spicy. They reap the benefits from those cookout too. You know what i mean right?

I kinda get what the story is, the empire feels grudge again sarie. Cuz the old story.... Then again, it's not funny joke more since the hatred towards sarie is began wild. To the point they made shadow warrior and some list to killed.

So yeah, probably this arc may lead to the empire got wiped out of map

Stark and Fern will be forced to kill humans? That's a scary thought.

Who said they were "relying" on Himmel and his party? We've yet to see anything to suggest that the Empire even WANTED the demon king to be defeated, or even any sort of acknowledgement of the Hero Party's success from the Empire directly. Sure the citizens of the Empire are happy with this new development, but what about the Empire itself? There's clearly some conflict of interest. As someone else mentioned above, they most likely don't want a peaceful era for whatever reason that goes against their interests.
Peaceful era means that they can't pilfer and reverse engineered new magics from demons.

War is profitable. They provided safety and security against the threat of demons, which people were willing to pay good money for. But now that demons are rare, this means people are most likely moving OUT of the empire, which isn't very good.

Ive been wondering whether Lineal is trully a Magic Association Spy or Dual Agent at this point. she's kinda suspicious since this kind of empire with high level of spy and defense got infiltrated, not disregarding the skill of 1st class mage but its kinda sus tbh

Lmao Sense's using her hair in combat in ways other than stabbing and slicing :meguupog:

Stark got a spot under the blanket! I repeat, Stark got a spot under the blanket! :oooo: (and Fern was even trying to let Stark join before Frieren gave up on her spot)

Just how many shadow warriors are in this capital though, that's promising to be a lot of action and fighting, unless Frieren or Serie can threaten them with a big nuke before it comes to this...

Thanks for the upload!

Oh neat, they're sending assassins after Frieren. And Frieren knows.

Also, it's rather funny in a way how this all could've been avoided had Serie accepted Flamme's offer. After 1,000 years, she would've become the most powerful person (politically) in the Empire.
They are not the same. Flamme was from a short lived species, so they can change history to fit her story to the ideals of the time (as they actually did, represented by the male statues of Flamme). Serie on the other hand, is basically an immortal being that would reign superior for her whole life and that goes against the principles of the Empire

bruh. . no way!! we still got this kind of dumb comment after the previous chapter :ROFLMAO:. . Assasin only worked because most mage just physically weak. Forget big buff demon lord who solo a hero, strongest warrior, broken priest, and great mage. Or his general who can fukken read future.

Try send 1000 of them with their dinky blade and arrow and poison or whatever against this guy. .

Of course it’s not surprising that once prospers man will try to kill and gain dominance over each other.
In that aspect, the more straightforward (yet murderous) demons are…. pure.

Like you have gained some semblance of peace, why not just keep it peaceful, ugh humans.
It's important to remember that 99% of humans are perfectly fine with peace. The problem is assholes willing to get others killed for their ambitions are also predisposed towards wanting power.

I get forgetting about stuff from dozens of chapters ago, but come on. Not like she was some throwaway mention too. There were entire conversations about her and secondhand accounts of her appearance too.
