You must clearly distinguish between the Seven Sages and the Great Devil. Exactly at the present time, the seven sages have been completely destroyed. The three seven sages were destroyed by the Southern Hero, the remaining four seven sages include: Bose, Grausam, Aura, Macht. Hero's party defeated two sages, Bose and Grausam. Frieren's party destroyed Aura and Macht. The other Great Demons are just generals but their power is no less than that of the seven sages. Other generals such as: Solitar, Qual, Tod, Rivale... are not among the seven sages, they all have their own titles.
Can't believe I made the same mistake of counting non-sages as sages twice :haa:
At first, I was under the false impression that Schlacht was a sage and missed him being their leader. You really gotta be careful with all their fancy titles.
Then again, sage or not, there are still plenty of powerful demons out there to be wary of :worry:

Great demons in general are powerful.

Between this and the shoutout to Frieren in Macht’s memories, I’m honestly getting a serious rumble of foreboding that the demons have something very big and very nasty waiting up their sleeves that will make the defeat of the Demon King a moot point…

With this chapter's end, we will finally know if what she did in the "past" was actually time travel and if anything changed in the present.

So did she manage to write the word on the monument? It doesn't look like she did

I love how this is the only time so far we've really seen Himmel in action for more than one panel at a time, and it's definitely more than enough to demonstrate why this man is THE Hero who lead the party that defeated the Demon King.

Was is ever specified that the Hero party kills Grausam? He clearly escapes in this chapter and I don't recall any earlier chapter that showcased him getting killed.

They 'defeated' him which basically means killed him. In fact, I suspect given what we've seen that the heroes probably made sure to kill him. Himmel and the others know that the demons have some kind of plan in the future that Frieren would be instrumental in stopping it and Grausam seems to hard counter her. Since they cannot tell past Frieren to be ready for it, I would imagine they outright hunted him down at some point to prevent him from ambushing Frieren in the future.

I dunno, he's such a prominent illusionist that even the other great demons can't tell if that's what he truly looks like so it seems like it would be super easy to fake his death.

I mean, this whole arc is a game charger in itself simply because prior to this, the idea seemed to be that the 3 other heroes just sort of retired after the death of the demon king while Frieren went off on her own. I think the next multiple arcs are going to reveal what they were actually up to in order to help Frieren in the future and I think a big part of it is probably eliminating certain enemies and possibly figuring out what happened with the Hero of the South in his final battle. As it is right now though, Frieren and friends are helpless against Grausam. They have no priest and Frieren generally takes a long time to devise a countermeasure if she didn't have one already so ultimately, either they confirmed Grausam's death or at some point, something will be waiting to help Frieren defeat him.
