While I'd agree with your action movie comparison and that it needs some breaks/lighter chapters, this chapter doesn't feel like a break, it feels like it tries to keep up the tone, but it ran out of ideas so it resorted to cheap tricks.

Imo this is the point where it starts to suffer from it's episodic nature, there're only so many emotional one off stories that you can tell with the same 2-3 characters in such a limited page count.

This series is one soul-punch after another, and I can't stop reading it.

the art in this series is so great and detailed, does a good job of having panels without any dialog at all. The story itself is mostly just melancholic and the characters are literally just fantasy archetypes.

I do like that it takes the long lifespan of elves seriously, that is something which is often skipped over in the genre.

anyways it's possible that it doesn't really go anywhere, but it's still early days and it is doing interesting stuff.

This is the worst type of tearjerkers you can read. It starts off with the death of a love one that makes you feel for the character left behind, but as the story goes and you see more into the one that passed away you have to remember they're actually still dead.....wtf man

That's a true hero for you, telling Frieren to shot him as an imposter. I wonder if this the imposters are made from victims' memory or they are more than that and actually the souls of those who dead.

I remember someone making a comment saying Frieren's master turned into the demon king.. It seems like foreshadowing from the part where fern and frieren talked about "getting used to master's begging"?

Once I saw the colored title page, I knew that there were gonna be Himmel and Frieren moments... and it's sad to be reminded over and over again with every chapter that Himmel is dead :(((

Anyways, thank you for the chapter! This manga is what I always look forward to every week! :)

I thought it was gonna be just a Fern moment, so that Frieren moment caught me off guard. I really wonder what will happen to Frieren at the end of this journey.
