Frieren should not be the party leader. They only had one day for the exam. If we left it to her, she would only observe the bird for the rest of the year, then came up with a capture plan after maybe five years or so.
They said in a past chapter that killing someone disqualified a mage from passing, so it wouldn't surprise me if that rule applies here. You can steal, capture, trap, etc. but killing is probably off the table if you want to pass.
@Yunyo If you're talking about the black-haired girl, it was stated she killed the proctor, the person administering the exam. Seems different from killing other examinees, so it might be considered fair game. Especially with a setup that leads to direct competition like this.
