Ugh, despite being a hardworking salaryman, you sure have a very dumbass way of explaining rice. In the first place, boiling the cereal before eating is not exclusive to rice. You do the same with barley and corn. They have bread, so they would know this cooking method. Instead of saying you don't know, you should point him to barley which you certainly have right on that same table.

It's safe to say I'm dropping those. The MC is A-typical, the plot can't seem to find its'self, the pacing seems to drag and speed up without a need or want, and another goddamn "I need/want rice/soy sauce/miso" pushed in. I don't need a flashy adventure or a super exciting story but when something like this seems to slop around I can't help but see it failing in the future. I hope anyone that continues to read greatly enjoys what they find.
