I’d love for this concept to be applied to earth, an advanced civilization’s Skymall catalog gets dropped into some country‘s lap, and they bumble into making super technology with it. But I guess that’s just sci-fi at that point.

I gotta say this is the dumbest one so far. The level of contrivance needed to try and misunderstand this goes well over any suspension of disbelief. Like he has no issue with 'laser' which isn't even a word and couldn't be translated but they don't know what 'presentation' means, really?! I doubt there's any word in Japanese they could have used that wouldn't be immediately descriptive or related to 'showing' things. To top it all off you have 'teacher' which has nothing to do with war, hunting or violence in general but somehow that gets interpreted as 'commander'.
At best the imagery and text would suggest this is a communication device used to transmit information in a scholarly environment. Really weak writing for this chapter...
