Might be because of the way manga magazines work. I don't know in which magazine this one gets published, but if they work like the Weekly Shounen Jump (which is arguably one of the worst ways for a Manga to be treated), releasing long chapters with low frequency would be the death of the series.

My guess would be that this mangaka only gets exactly twelve pages per volume but has to produce these twelve pages for EVERY volume. Direct-to-Book Manga don't have that problem.

The length of the chapters isn't the issue, it's how they're split. Like, what fuckwit thought it was a good idea to literally end the chapter mid-conversation? And there was one a while ago that was "Meanwhile, in the demon kingdom..." end of chapter. Anybody with half a functioning brain would've been able to see that splitting it on the page before would've been better, or if it's just done by page count then the mangaka/editor should realise that having that panel immediately before the split is just dumb.

It's like if a TV show ended 3 seconds after the start of a new scene, only to then carry on straight from that point in the next episode. It's retarded, and just means that you have to go back and read the previous segment again.
