Are you from the west by any chance? In eastern countries, staying in your room AND locking the door is considered abnormal behavior, doubly so if you're a guy. My family used to make fun of me saying "you're like a maiden" for doing so. The generally recognized normal is you open the door when you're awake.I mean if you're to the point of hiding something, why not just lock your door to begin with? unless JP doors don't usually have locks on the bedroom
(tho other than sneaking it/somehow getting it from a friend or 'discovering' it on the road cliche [wonder if there are scenes like that with a chara using hand sanitizer right after lol], i imagine it'd be hard for a middle schooler to get a nude magazine, unless some 'idol' zines have some bikini pics but not 'bad' enough to age gate minors from buying it, or a larger magazine with a few risque ads lol)
Locks on bedrooms is extremely rare in almost every country. The implications that it’s a standard thing says a LOT about where you live, if you need to lock your doors against family membersI mean if you're to the point of hiding something, why not just lock your door to begin with? unless JP doors don't usually have locks on the bedroom

i generally don't lock my door b/c the old house we're in tech has locks on the bedrooms but no proper keyhole/we never even got the backyard key when we bought it so if you lock yourself out you're screwed/have to lockpick it but i am also asian so yeah the 'no privacy' thing makes sense. still with how 'polite' ppl are you'd think ppl would knock outta habit but then again it is family lol.Are you from the west by any chance? i'd think some teenagers would want privacy once they hit puberty even if they're not necessarily doing anything they don't want their parents to walk in on but i wonder how many times there've been ppl that just openly/loudly listen to smut with their family in the houseLocks on bedrooms is extremely rare in almost every country.
