If those books were romance then she's in for a bad time. Romance genre is the one place you don't want to be a CF.

Harem or love triangle romance manga are bad for CFs, expecially since in those CFs are added later as cannon fodder to pad out the harem. If CF is the first and obviously main girl, normal romance rules applies. Look at "Tomo-chan is a girl!", straightforward romance of childhood friends, popular manga and anime.

I'd say childhood friends are somewhat infamous in romance, because writers like to use them as easy to add girl in love with male MC. "This unknown girl suddenly ran to MC and hugged him, prompting jealous reactions from main love interest. That was because she was actually his childhood friend, who (page of flashback) was secretly in love with him all the time. Will main girl win against this new contender?"
