She's right but also tbh that is a lot to throw at a middle schooler
I'd cut her some slack. After all, she's also a middle schooler. She's already more mature than last time we saw her (which isn't much but hey it counts)

Honestly both of them are acting too mature lol. "My parents said I have to graduate high school" would've been the most reasonable short term resolution to this subplot... if it had been true in the first place.

These kids are literally 15 and this story is set in our world, not the yugioh world where becoming a missionary to spread card games to third world countries at age 15 sounds suspiciously plausible

Awesome pace you're going at. I think you might just finish the whole series in the same time it took us to do a single chapter haha. Good thing you picked it up.

I'll send you volume 17 later!

True but I was referring to the MC, he's 15ish already getting a life altering opportunity but you know he wants to experience youth.
Tbh they should've saved this offer for when hes almost done with high school not middle school lol.

The girl went through and outgrew her chuuni phase in a matter of weeks. Good on her. Especially since it was brought on by depression.

Proud of her for being able to talk to him properly this time and let things go, even if it was still painful for her. But she was able to make amends with the MC and repair their friendship. Also proud of Emi for not falling into the same jealousy-induced misunderstanding as before. Recognizing that Yakumo needed to convey her feelings to put them to bed and the importancy of their privacy for that is incredibly mature, and brave.

As for the assistant thing, I'm pretty sure the "graduate high school" bit from his parents remains a sticking point whether Kanou accepts the job offer or not. It's just a matter of whether or not he wqnts to commit to that future.

Also, calling it now. The thought that Kanou was killed in the natural disaster is a fakeout and at least part of Emi's goal for the reconstruction is the knowledge/belief that Kanou will be there. I'll even go so far as to say that something happens to separate/break them up, only for them to meet and get back together in the "present day" and that's how the series ends.

Yakumo is such a weird character. She doesn't appear that much and she's so hopelessly out of the running that I'm not sure why the author even bothered with it. I guess for the insanely surreal cult thing.

I just kind of feel bad whenever she's on screen.

Traveling abroad is not that strange, sure

Traveling abroad
  • at age 15
  • with someone your parents don't know, and without your parents
  • to a variety of third world countries
  • for a duration that forces you to drop out of high school

... is really fucking weird. Even in the 90s.
