Though I must admit I dropped it in the middle of the boat ride or something, and at this rate I'm probably never picking it up again. I can't remember what I read like fifteen years ago, I'd have to do a reread at this point.

well with magic maybe they got his dna without necessarily is sperm to make a kid but maybe they just interfered and got rid of his mom or so either through social services or so (IDK if they stated if the mom died tho rather than just being out of the picture)
