@Mr_Cracker We aren't planning on stopping uploads to Mangadex, we've played around with the idea of First Hour Versions to counter scalping but we worry it would be such a major thing that it'd do more damage to our reader base than we could consider.
Basically, the concept was uploading a dummy version with scanlation memes we came up with during the process, stuff we don't share until after uploading usually. For 1 hour, or less, we have that version on Mangadex, with memes and some translation edits/notes making fun of the entire thing. We'd always start these versions with a notice, explaining that it would be updated in less than an hour on Mangadex, explaining that if your site is using this version they've scalped out uploads in less than one hour for the sake of clicks.
These sites would be stuck with an inferior meme version, while fans also get a joke version of the chapter for 1 hour before the actual upload is updated through the edit function Mangadex lets us use.
The issues with this are apparent because we don't want to provoke fans of those sites or hinder those that can't use Mangadex for some reason.
We cleared it with Mangadex, they said it'd need to be done a specific way that our team agrees would be possible but would be possibly confusing to those that read 1 hour after it uploads.
This idea is a possible solution, but it's not one the team is willing to take given the risks/possible fan backlash and doing harm to those that only have certain sites they can use.
