It'd make sense if watching her become the Yamada that cheers him is what made her special, but it wouldn't make sense for her to be conscious of him for a while enough to know that he "disappeared" when they stopped allowing smokers, but not notice that he still came around. It's more likely to me that it was just a crush that passed. I'd prefer it even. People have crushes and fall in love and it's not always forever. Doesn't make in any less meaningful, doesn't make your current object of affection any less meaningful, it's just life. I hate first boy/first girl shit.

Recently discovered this manga and really love it, but...

On p. 23 in this chapter: 'It wasn't because you were unconscious of it. Instead, it was... because you have feelings for that person.'

What? I don't see where that came from. How would he come to think of something like that? Is it maybe something lost in translation, or a cultural thing? Am I the only one puzzled here?

while this is wholesome I can't really get over this man acting as a middle schooler ... blushing when the fml uses short sleeves instead of the usual long sleeved shirt and panicking over touching the girl hands ... he is also too jumpy with his emotions which is actually kinda cute but annoying for an old man... I don't want this old man to suddenly act like an experienced middle aged chad old man but I'd like for him to start showing a little romance boldness instead of coming off as a emotional jumpy gloomy tired old man talking with his young daughter female friend...
