At the start, the story seems pretty weird and off. Once you start getting character backstories, one could then see how some of what happened here may not be so far off.

With the MC, he went through next-level crap for his whole life, with big crap happening to him not too long before the story started. Let's just say as odd as his current guardian is, it's WAY better than his so-called parents, if you could even call them that. And with MC's future vision thing, I feel it's not as convenient as one would think, and he has no control over it and no real way to turn away from those visions without major headaches.
And with the first girl, her backstory also sucks big time, which makes her current attitude make some sense. She does get some amount of character development over time.
