Well it's kinda stupid, but then again, not less stupid than 95% of wuxia/isekai garbage outthere with retarded cheat system or miraculous cheat martial power found by the mc in a cave/storage room.

It's a somewhat logical conclusion. Problem is that people who are prone to violence don't necessarily act logically. And the odds of them both shooting and killing eachother at the exact same time is low.

"Rules: The strong dominate with violence" ...Yeah, game theory is a pretty good way to exploit this.
I'm not sure if this is a matter of acting logically so much as just exploiting animal instinct.

On the most primal level, any animal knows to be cautious of the bigger animal with larger teeth. For humans, who know very well that guns = dangerous, the other guy with a gun is a grizzly bear and the princess is a rabbit trying to run at best.

Either way, I love my isekai that flex with modern knowledge, so this is a win for me as long as he doesn't get absurd with it.

Yeah, it's a logical conclusion that could work. It only works here because it's convenient enough for the plot.
That said, it's good enough for me to shrug it and see what happens next.
As i said before, it's not less retarded that the usual cheat system or the miraculous treasures plot device in other works. At least, the power of MATH is not overused, and i'm kinda curious to see what shenanigans they will use next.

From "1" okay premise to "180" sudden bandits to "360" bullshit convenience...now I see why he's to be a magician....

Yes. Math told me to shoot the sky. Math is always right. Math also told me to eat canned food. Because canned food saves time.

You can call it stupid, but at least it was logical. Though It shouldn't be that smooth, some additional struggle would be appreciated.

It's a good thing those thugs were good enough shots to kill each other in one, and also shot at the exact same time

Not only people in general don't always act rationally, it's already obvious that the stable guy is a moron. He didn't expect the other guy to show up, which means he went into it alone, but he apparently did expect the princess to have an affair with some man, which means he went alone against two people, one of which could easily be older and/or experienced in combat. He's the type of character who reliably picks the dumber of availiable options up until the moment the writer gives him an intelligence boost for plot convenience, lol.

Consider this. You see two people unarmed, looking like they have very low combat capabilities, and you want to capture and enjoy yourself with one of them. Then you see one guy as armed as you, looking like he's got similar plans. You have no idea whether he's actually a secret ally of the two somehow or just out for his own gains. Which one seems as a more priority target to eliminate?

The whole him firing their weapon off is to eliminate the mexican standoff (3 parties, whoever starts first might get hit by one of the other), thus prompting the other two to react quick enough to win the fight.

I'm not disputing the logic, I'm just saying that one of the characters has a history of acting contrary to logic. And from the meta perspective, is actually more likely to do so.

@orp @Robbini Then there's video game logic where they always teach you to kill off the weaker characters first because they can kite you when you least expect it. With one big scary target, dodging is possible. Plus, there's a chance that you might miss. Finally, the other person seeks the same target as you. There's a possibility they could be a spy and even if you shoot them, they'll be able to dodge, meaning that if you shoot them, you bullet will be wasted. IF they are a spy of an enemy nation seeking to capture/kidnap the princess, you'll likely be dead either way, so if you kill the princess, then you'll have killed the one thing the other person is going after [remember, they're going to want to eliminate any loose ends or prospective witnesses], thereby disincentivizing them or ultimately causing them to fail if their objective was to capture the princess alive. Either way, it might shock the other person so much for not having been what they expected you to do that it gives you enough time in their freezing to move out of the way and reload your firearm while the kid panics and the other person reacts similarly.

With flintlock weapons, you're unlikely to shock someone long enough to have time to reload and fire another shot while the other guy is stunned, especially if you're doing it in front of him, where the mere sound can make him flinch and reactively shoot at you.

@robbini Given flintlock pistols use black power, which produces a heavy amount of smoke (unless they've somehow managed to invent cordite or some other magical explosive), and fire far slower, and given the lack of rifling, which made many of these pistols extremely inaccurate (hence, the need for walls of men lining up against others similarly lining up, in order to hit anything worth a damn), the fact any of them even managed to hit something is rather surprising given their relative distance. Hence, the unlikelihood of the headshot, the ability to hit a moving target, or the ability to shoot a person in the heart at over 30 paces. Combining black powder, lack of rifling, and small moving targets vs large moving targets makes my conclusions to me more plausible. Using our own history of firearms, elementary rifling would be possible (why Pennsylvania Long Rifles enabled Colonials to shoot British Regulars from a relative distance without being at risk of return fire), however, the likelihood of it being implemented seems unknown given the lack of explanation. Since this society seems far less concerned by the advances in science and mathematics vs "bravery" and "heroism", it seems unlikely that rifling or other advancements would be perused. However, that is an unsubstantiated hypothesis by me, of course, and I lay that bare presently.
