This seems like one of those things where the author and intended audience obviously have pretty questionable tastes and intentions, but the end product itself—especially if you didn't know the contextual clues of the fandoms from whence it sprang—almost comes off as just a wholesome, screwball adventure.
Alas, only almost. There's no avoiding the fact that the audience is, at least occasionally, supposed to ogle these elementary school students with a lecherous gaze.
More's the pity, as the more laid-back "yeah I guess we're just cross-dressing now, it seems fun, why not?" slice-of-life mood it has sometimes is otherwise, on its own merits, kind of charming.
