Basically takes place after the entire Alicization Arc, feels weird to see this being translated or possibly released in line with the Final Season of the Alicization Anime, similarly with the game Lycoris released a day before the Final Season began with the somewhat implied spoilers of what happens at the end. But, glad nonetheless that the author or writer of the series is still making more stuff for the series, and expanding more and stuff that was left out for time reasons.

What even is this story, Are they trying to capitalize on the isekai boom and get a sao spin off before people get tired of the genre? Why would kirito lose his memory of everything but somehow retain his sword skills, muscle memory only gets you so far, and even that premise is shaky.

@KinGrove It takes place before the Alicization war, and during that. It's an alternate timeline that diverges during the Pontifex fight.

@KinGrove I just finished the game a few days ago, if it follows it to a letter, then it's gonna be baaad. The main story was really trash, some of the side content was good.

what is the connection of this series with the light novel series? is this like an alt universe. how is eugeo still alive?

@connect4 This takes place in the game universe where Kirito and the gang went through all 100 Floors of SAO. It's a completely separate continuity from the canon universe and this manga is based off the newest game in the continuity. Play it some time if you're interested in MMO simulators plus there's tons of character interactions in the games that doesn't happen as much or at all in the canon timeline.
