Why are we getting a handful of yuri manga recently that are trying to make smoking sexy? It's weird right? Between this, Witches and Cigarettes (which at least has the decency to make them non-tobacco magic spell cigs) The Maid of Your Dreams Looks Good with a Cigarette and A Couple Drifting in the Wind, this is now At Least 4 recent manga that don't just have a character incidentally smoking, but have cigarettes as a Central Theme, a Core Gimmick, focusing on their creation and use in a way that borders on the fetishistic.
I don't know if this is a more or less broad trend outside of Yuri manga, and I'm not quite so paranoid as to think it's a Tobacco industry psi-op, but it is... concerning even if it is a wholly grassroots trend, because that just means that other tobacco industry advertising is soaking in elsewhere and infiltrating culture.
