Thank you for the chapter! Great fun. If I have time later, I'll add a few thoughts to the translator's notes. You didn't get anything wrong (don't worry!) but there's plenty of interesting context for the various food terms.

Heya! Corrections and additions are always welcome. If you'd like, feel free to message me on Discord about them. You could also help with future chapters if you don’t mind

Another great chapter. There are parallels in the way we talk about food, and the way we talk about art. Both have a "professionalized" and "institutionalized" language that is used to divide specialists from laypersons. People without technical knowledge are excluded from serious discussion.

While this successfully creates class divisions, it also obscures regular perspectives and flattens understanding. Food, and Art, are better when experienced than when theorized. While it's still good to have the vocabulary to describe your experiences, it's harmful to limit descriptions with obscure language that laypeople cannot understand.

It's better to speak clearly than it is to speak fancy. Now shut up, and enjoy your fried chicken!

These days, terrines is a loaf of meat-like substance that's often cooked in stainless steel or even plastic wrapped and sous vided.

still haven't had karage as far as i know (had korean style fried chicken, bit salty for the soy garlic tho wish i tasted the garlic more)

and i'm sure michelin star stuff is good, extreme high prices aside but sometimes 'hole in the wall'/street food is prolly better than stuffy 5 star restaurants lol

wonder if she'll be 'challenged' or run into a fellow critic at a dive bar XD

i guess it's a casual space but even at a stool i'd feel awkward sitting next to a stranger

wonder if she'll go to a diner/'family restaurant' tho idk if they really serve beer since, well, it's aimed at families

konbu doesn't look that appealing but outside of seaweed chips not that fond of seaweed/nori/always picked it off of like the spam musubi or the triangle korean kimbap/onigiri

The whole world revolving around everything she says in kinda cringe. The chefs sure, but the bar patreons wouldn't care.

The story would benefit if she met a person or group of friends she could bounce off of.
