seems like ideal for drinkers but other than fancy cocktails/made to order, i'd rather enjoy it in the quiet of my own home versus a bar full of ppl

tho i wonder if you'd be able to buy the super cheap snacks even w/o a drink

I don't really get the appeal.

I think it's for people who like drinking at home but have more refined tastes and not enough budget. By sampling many types without having to buy a whole bottle, eventually they will find brands they like and buy to take home.

I don't drink but it feels like the origin of this one was someone who couldn't wait to drink what they bought, which seems problematic to me...like there might be a social aspect going on for some but the standing bar seems to fill that niche better. Could just be cultural differences or a custom born out of necessity due to public drinking laws.
