Yeah. I don't think they can steal him away though because once he learns it was fake he would not stay with them. However, this might be a plot to drive a wedge between him and the first prince. This is definitely something he'll have to verify before he takes the decision to leave the first prince's faction.

If it's real, I wouldn't be surprised if the first prince didn't care about his circumstances with Wilhelm and lost his support by maintaining that alliance. Leaving the first prince's faction creates lots of problems for him because he only just joined it and he was counting on it for protection. It's not like he'd just be leaving it either; he'd be hostile to it because of Wilhelm. I don't think he should just join the second prince in reaction though, but if he doesn't he'll be a target for everyone.

It's definitely a difficult situation to navigate. I wonder how it'll progress.

Unless the bad blood between Oscar and Wilhelm was actually just planned between them, alongside this "Wilhelm is working with the First Prince" line as a means to cause actual friction between MC and the First Prince. Sabotaging MC's spies fits into this plot as it further prevents him from really knowing the truth about whatever is going on between Oscar and Wilhelm. If MC leaves the First Prince's faction, then he's weakened (which Wilhelm wants) and the First Prince's faction is weakened (which Oscar wants). And if MC leaves the First Prince's faction on bad terms, and Oscar doesn't accept him into his faction, then MC is in a terrible position, one bad enough that perhaps Oscar and Wilhelm think they can exploit to separate him from his fiancee. Wilhelm is of course convinced he could sweep in and take her for his own, which brings her family's support over to the Oscar faction without Oscar needing to keep another prince around.

I wouldn't put it past the slimy Wilhelm we have seen to try thinking he can join both factions. It also seems like the first and second prince want Rudy for his fiance's family and would be more than happy to manipulate him for that support rather than earn it themselves by showing themselves as possible leaders. No wonder the original MC took the throne in the original timeline.

TBH I'm assuming this is a ploy by Oscar to get Rudy to leave the First Prince's faction, and there hasn't actually been any split between him and Wilhelm, which is why Anne, who has been watching Wilhelm, hasn't reported anything, because everything on that end is the same.
