In our world H. erectus were using skewers a million years ago, Neanderthals and Denisovans were smoking fish, making combs and making charcoal hundreds of thousands of years ago, hoes like the soldiers were wowed by were being used at the start of the Neolithic 12,000 years ago, wheeled carts are at least 6,500 years old, waterwheels date back at least 2,500 years ago.
But then they fairly sophisticated technology like metalsmithing.
