I mean, read most Villainess reincarnation manhwa. A lot of them (more than I'd like) have double reincarnators, though usually the perspective only follows one of them, and they're antagonistic to each other. Besides that, yeah Ending Maker is good and they do work together.

He doesn't have a scandal, think in Sense & Sensibility when Willoughby's family had enough of his philandering and cut him off so he married a woman with £50k (would be the equivalent of like £4.5 million in todays money). She was willing to do that because she had her own scandals so by getting together they're allowed back into polite society.

In this situation the MC didn't have a scandal he was just known as fat and lazy and by dieting and working hard he can change that reputation. The woman on the other hand has a scandal of embezzling money and spending it on young men (let's ignore the doubt cast on it by the MC and the butler for now and just focus on the fact it happened). The MC would absolutely be in a position where he could refuse the engagement without any real negative repercussions, especially when you consider that the family themselves have cut her off.
