How many dukes does that country have? This is already the third ducal family. We have one baron (the MC), and three people from ducal families so far in the story, as far as nobility goes. Apparently that Ivan dude doesn't know Alban is a noble, as he keeps talking about himself as the only noble present, but surely he couldn't be missing every single other noble in the same class? Though I'm fairly sure there's at least one more. More funnily, I reckon Ivan isn't even the duke himself, he's just a son of a duke. The MC is already a ruling baron with his own domain. Thus the MC outranks him. Maybe that will change many years into the future if Ivan inherits the title.

If he ignores the rule that says status outside doesnt matter he needs to abide by the rules outside.
Like no matter how small a kingdom is, the King of said Kingdom outranks the Duke or Crown Prince of the other one, even if the King is only visiting. Same with the heir of a duke to a full fledged Noble. That would only be broken under 2 circumstances: 1. when the full fledged Noble is putting himself under the heir or 2. the heir got the (political) power from the current full fledged Noble (aka his father) for tasks.
Also why does he hate the niceguy hero? Dont tell me its again 2-faced stupidity.
