The uneven nature of their progress makes it impossible for me to believe in this story, it just feels like is trying to cater to specific fetishes of the author with no regards for consistency and or continuity.

I feel like it also cast a negative light on the S&M community by showcasing these teens performing dangerous things like breath play and outright violent acts.

This is another problem, because a common mistake in Manga is how problems would be easily solved with proper communication, and this author's "solution" is to basically make him as you pointed out a mind reader, and while it is possible to find the person who "gets you" I feel like the author using "magic", is not wholesome and is not the right type of eroticism for me either.

Yeah, agreed. It's still one of the better series depicting actual progress in a relationship and a lot of the BDSM stuff actually is quite healthy and good (especially when compared to literally any femdom manga). But, as I've noticed with a lot of female authors, she just cant help but take it a step too far and make it seem just a bit too dangerous or forceful. It's a common fantasy and it's fiction, so I kinda understand it. But I wish she would keep it safe and sane. She mostly does, but not always, unfortunately.
