I've said it before and I'll say it again. I expect this series to end with the girl battered and bruised, missing an arm, a leg and several teeth while being chained to a bed, all while having a look of pure arousal and bliss.
I think that he fits the Japanese "no safe word" style a bit more, because he was OBSESSIVELY meticulous and checking on Nana at every turn. Still, I dont know how the hell the Japanese do it without a safe word, seems insane to me.
I guess in Japanese SM culture they don’t really use safe words, the onus is placed on the Dom to read their partner and to be knowledgeable, which is probably why the manga makes such a big point of emphasizing how well MC can read what she wants.
Where is this idea that Japanese SM doesn't use safe words coming from? I've seen it discussed by Western manga fans, but I haven't seen any Japanese people saying this and it kinda smells like Orientalism
