I honestly don't get the "safe bet" thing. Many Europeans dislike Chinese food in general and even those who don't usually have only a few dishes they enjoy. I myself am among the latter, even though I'm considered "adventurous" when it comes to food among my family.Contrary to how common it is in isekai, it is interesting seeing them have actual different opinion on Japanese food instead of all instantly liking it. Something like Sushi having varying opinions makes perfect sense considering they’re even a land locked region. I also find it really funny that he got Chinese food because they’re a safe bet. I guess opinion is pretty universal because I think the same thing as well.
Statistically, there are more people who like than dislike, I suppose. The author featured Zirconia eating the chili shrimp, but from his earlier shopping, I believe I saw him picking up a Dimsum platter. Many kinds of dimsum are simple things which are lightly seasoned, minimal spices, so I'd imagine it would suit their palette. At least he didn't seem to get anything too exotic, like say, chicken feet.I honestly don't get the "safe bet" thing. That's the funny part - around here Chinese joints have more standardized menus than McDonalds, despite being independent, small businesses. It's all the same, no matter where you go, you get your standard wok-fried chicken/beef/pork in assorted sauces and that's pretty much it. You won't find things like dimsum outside of really specialized places. This is what it means to safe bet here and it's still mostly younger people that eat there.Statistically, there are more people who like than dislike, I suppose.
