if he was in the US, he might be put on a watchlist for buying so much fertilizer ?
Probably not, because the fertilizer was specified as being manure. If it was ANFO/ammonium nitrate (like the material used in the Oklahoma City Bombing), then I doubt he'd even be able to buy it in any quantity outside of hobbyist chemist/lab amounts and if he tried he'd have a visit from a variety of alphabet soup government agencies. But regular manure fertilizer without that level of chemical additives to be used for dangerous purposes right off the bat (...but, I mean, it's chemistry, with the right know-how what you CAN do is a whole other story - most people just lack the knowledge and ability to do anything at a large enough scale). The fact that he's also buying tools and farming equipment and seeds and lives in the boonies of Japan probably just makes him an oddity to the people there and to no interest whatsoever of the government (at least nothing like that happened in the first ~50 chapters of the WN).

But you would be surprised at what does get you on government radar. If you suddenly start buying hundreds and hundreds of pounds of corn and sugar, don't be surprised if the BATFE pays you a visit to see whether or not you're running an illegal distillery/making moonshine. Wouldn't be the first time a moonshiner was caught that way, either. And I'm not even talking about days during Prohibition, I mean years or decades ago. And, of course, buying certain over-the-counter medications in quantity is monitored because of things like methamphetamine production.

@krippr These guys seem to believe in gods that take care of basically everything. There might be people who know more about the science side of things in a world like this one, but the spread of information is probably an issue.

Local lord seems somewhat decent for once? In a story like this, the first antagonist is usually either the local lord or a bandit king.

A local lord that isn't bent on running every village of his into the ground through oppressive taxes? Count me as unironically shocked. The author took some time to look into topography and how irrigation works so I'll give him props for that. It makes me think that there was a point as to why energy drinks worked as a cure-all medicine at least if we aren't including the bonfire that made it rain in a non-humid climate.

At this point, for his protection, he could've at least bought an Assault Rifle, Handgun, KV-1 (Heil Mother Russia) and an APC :<

Welp, don't mind that.. local lord seems like a decent leader.

TBH I also though he should have bought at least a gun for protection. Id buy two just in case. Theres no telling if bandits would try to attack the village or if the lord's soldiers would get roudy against him, a total stranger.

this dude has money PROBLEMS. I get wanting to help them and you have a lot of money, but at least think about how you’re spending it. alsooooo, what happens after they run out of fertilizer?? sure, you can keep buying it for them but what happens after you died? they’ll be used to using fertilizer thennnn it’ll just bring more harms in the long run, the only way they won’t get harmed, is progressing their technology and culture. but that’s really tough to do that much in 70 years ( assuming he’s 20 and dies at 90 or sth) they don’t even haveeee proper tools and relies on god to do most of their bidding. This manga is interesting so far, but the mc is kinda irritating with the way he spends his money

Lmao imagine people bitching about him spending just one million out of the 40 million he has on a settlement that can provide tons of goods and resources, which in turn can be traded by, guess what, money.

Also how the fuck is he not going to be able to teach them about fertilizer production and crop rotation before he dies?

Lmao like

This whole plot is stupid I can barely read up to this point. Literally no reason to get rich and then go to some trash village instead of staying where you can maximize your money potential into fun and comfort. And he just randomly spends money wtf lol, only started with like what 30 mil?

Realistically, buying the fertilizer is only to help jump-start with revitalizing the soil. After the first harvest, they can start techniques like crop rotations and mixing the stalks back into the soil, and that would have a similar effect. They could also raise livestock or use composting for fertilizer as well.
Also, stuff from Earth is like magic, so it will have a massive effect, as will any seeds he brings later.
